If not only location and quality are important but also environmental awareness, the green office is the best solution. The best-known rating system is the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assesment Method) established in 1990 and the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification system, which has been in existence since 2000. These are the best-known indexes of a green office building, but of course there is a lot of possibilities for an office to work environmentally friendly.
If you are looking for an environmentally friendly solution for your company, we show you some opportunities in Budapest.
The Váci Corner Offices on Váci corridor reached 78% of the BREEAM scale, becoming Budapest’s “greenest” office building. To the acquisition of qualification the excellent location, the usage of energy-efficient and water-saving equipments, and environmentally friendly, non-hazardous building materials have also contributed.
The Green House office building in Kassák Lajos Street earned the platinum grade of LEED certification, making it the second “greenest” office in Budapest. And what's "green"? Among other things, gray water is utilized in water blocks, because of the large glass surfaces less artificial light is used, and each building block allows the heating or cooling of smaller spaces. Furthermore, the use of external shades, as well as selective waste collection raised its environmental awareness.
3. MOM Towers
MOM Offices have excellent public transport links and the MOM Park shopping mall is next to it with a host of services, so it is not necessary to travel there and significantly increase the environmental impact. The top of the office building itself is green, raising high the environment-aware factor. In addition, many of the materials used are from national sources, so the environment is less burdened by the transportation. The average air volume per capita, the plasterboard and glass walls made of recycled material, and the water and electricity supplies are modern and economical.
Colliers, the current company leasing the office, acquired LEED certification in 2016.
Thanks to its good public transport potential it significantly reduces the environmental load. The lighting system has been used so to take advantage of LED lighting and therefore reduce energy usage by motion sensors and daytime light sensors. Nearly all office space has direct views of the outside, natural environment, and in addition, mostly healthy materials have been used to create interiors.
The current tenant of the offices here is Bloomberg, which is a global representative of environmentally conscious solutions. In the washrooms, water consumption was reduced by 37% globally, lighting costs were reduced by a quarter, and the firm practices many forms of recycling. What’s more, they are encouraging their employees to do so at home too.
